Salem Public School leaders are passionate about urban education and understand the urgency of improving student achievement.  They respect and value the racial, cultural, and linguistic diversity of our students and their families, and have a strong commitment to the Salem community.

Salem is a small, diverse city with a proud maritime and immigrant history. Salem has much to offer, from worldclass museums and cultural attractions, fine restaurants, and amazing architectural masterpieces, to an intriguing and infamous history, along with terrific retailers, diverse residential neighborhoods, an active waterfront, and a lively and historic downtown.

Q. What type of support does Salem provide for new teachers?
New teacher induction (NTI) is a community building experience that brings all new teachers together to learn about the students of Salem, explore the SPS instructional vision, and build meaningful connections with colleagues.  The NTI experience prepares teachers for the first days of school, equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to cultivate a caring, welcoming learning environment and build strong relationships with students.

Q. What is the experience applicants can expect as a new teacher in Salem?
Salem Public Schools provides unparalleled new teacher support and development. Each new teacher receives individualized coaching, high quality professional development via the new teacher induction program, and peer mentorship from building colleagues, ensuring you have a community of support preparing you to have a direct impact on students in your first year at SPS.
